Tanzania is a land without winter. The climate varies from region to region.

Throughout almost the whole country, there are two rainy seasons. The short rains last from November to December and the long rains from March to May. During the long rains it rains virtually everyday, but almost never for the whole day.

Northern Tanzania

Temperatures in northern Tanzania range between 15°C and 24°C (60-75°F) during the day and between 5°C and 10°C (40-50°F) at night from May to October. From November to March the daytime temperature varies from 21°C to 33°C (70-90°F) and from 15°C to 24°C (60-75°F) at night.

Coast and off-shore islands

The climate is tropical and coastal areas are usually hot and humid but regulated by sea breezes, especially on the islands. Average day temperature is 30°C (86°F), increasing untill the arrival of the long rains. The rainy season lasts from November to December and from March to May.

The high plateau and southern highlands

The high plateau is dry and arid and has hot days and cool nights. The north eastern and southern highlands are normally cool, altitude tempers what would otherwise be a tropical climate. Between June and August, temperatures range between 20°C and 27°C (68-80°F) and from December to March temperatures are 30°C (86°F) and higher.
